The Brief

In 2021, MainStreet Advisors was ready to refresh their online presence. Their goal was to better serve their evolving client base and remain competitive in the dynamic financial advisory landscape.

The former website, launched in 2015, was built on an outdated content management system that could not handle today’s web technology and design advances. The website needed to be mobile-optimized, accessible, and designed with the user’s experience in mind. Additionally, MainStreet wanted to simplify the experience of browsing the site in general, hoping to make a living digital brochure of sorts.

For this project, MainStreet’s goal was to enhance the user experience for their client base, make a visually striking site befitting the firm’s high design standards, and bring MainStreet’s digital presence into the modern day.

The Solution

Our team at MainStreet Advisors partnered with the marketing and web development firm DDM to take on this monumental task. 

As the sole graphic designer at MainStreet, this project and partnership allowed me to lead the art direction of the website. Through collaboration, I guided our developers at each step to ensure that their work aligned with our brand, often altering wireframes and mockups as I reviewed work at each phase. 

We adopted a clean, minimal aesthetic to mirror many of MainStreet Advisors’ print materials. While this visual simplicity offered brand consistency, it ensured each page had a clear focus area for site users. In stark contrast to the old website’s design, I decided to dig deeper into the neutrals in MainStreet’s color palette, allowing the content on the page to take center stage.

Under my guidance, this new website offers more modern web technologies and strong design principles. As an advocate for better web solutions, I recommended and encouraged the move of the website to WordPress. I supervised the site’s design for the look and feel of new interactions, animations, and client portal.

The MainStreet Advisors site launched at the end of 2021 with an overwhelmingly positive response from our clients, who praised the user experience, ease of navigation, and the refreshed presentation of content. This project allowed me to enhance my skills in creative direction, web design, and project management.
